Faux
Finished Floor
We ripped
out the broadloom, filled any inconsistancies in the wooden
subfloor, and did a fresco finish on the surface. The design
you see above was carefully drawn, covered with a temporary
mask, and then meticulously cut out. The dark oak graining was
painted in to match the rest of the oak in the home. When that
was dry, the whole thing was remasked and cut out again exposing
the overlaid pattern. That was then grained, and In the end,
everything was given a fine black outline for the appearance
of inlaid marketry. We finished with five coats of clear using
a lambs wool applicator. This is a very artsy, but upscale,
downtown look.
